Keita Takayama

Dr. Keita Takayama is Academic Lead Research/Professor at School of Education, College of Education, Behavioural and Social Sciences, Adelaide University, Australia. He previously served as the Director of Global Education Office at the Graduate School of Education, Kyoto University, Japan and taught at the School of Education, the University of New England, Australia. Dr. Takayama’s research draws on postcolonial and decolonial theories to study the past and present educational policies and practices and their transnational mobilities.

His recent research turns to East Asian thoughts to develop a theoretical articulation of East Asian pedagogy. Currently, he co-edits Asia Pacific Journal of Teacher Education and Discourse: Studies in the Cultural Politics of Education. He was awarded visiting fellowship at Seoul National University, South Korea in 2024-2025, East China Normal University, China in 2024, and senior fellowship by the Swiss Network for International Policies and Cooperation in Education and Training (NORRAG) in 2021-2022. He also serves as an international jury for the UNESCO-Hamdan Prize for Teacher Development.
