Clara Fontdevila

Clara Fontdevila is a Ramón y Cajal researcher at the Department of Sociology of Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Prior to that, she was British Academy Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Glasgow. Her research focuses on the comparative analysis of education policy and politics, driven by an interest in understanding how education systems change and with what consequences. To explore these themes, her work has focused on two main areas: the contemporary restructuring of education markets, and the evolution and institutionalisation of large-scale learning assessments. She has also been engaged in various competitive research projects concerned with the design and implementation of other education policies including public-private partnerships, school accountability and autonomy policies and dual training schemes. She has held research and consultancy contracts with different organisations, including Fundació Bofill, Education International, UNESCO and the Global Education Monitoring Report.
