His research interests are focused on social network analysis, mixed methods and action research designs. He has applied these methods in several research projects addressing topics such as working conditions, migration, prisoner reentry and community development. His current research is focused on the role of personal networks in job searching and in desistance from crime.
Joel Martí regularly teaches courses on research methods, both quantitative and qualitative, as well as mixed methods and action research. He has been the methodological advisor of more that 50 Master’s theses and is currently supervising PhD dissertations that apply personal network analysis and multilevel analysis within the framework of mixed methods research.
