The first GLOBED Summer School was held the 6th and 7th of June 2013. Isa Baud and Mark Rutgers from the University of Amsterdam welcomed the participants and Xavier Bonal, the project coordinator, presented the rationale and main objectives of GLOBED.
Several sessions were held at the two-day school, covering a broad range of issues. Among other matters, the different sessions covered managerial reforms, such as school-based management or public-private partnerships; teaching and learning in contexts of poverty and fragility, including such themes as child-centered pedagogies, education and peace-building; and ethical aspects related to research and consultancy work in developing contexts. The complete program of the first GLOBED Summer School is available here.
More than 30 participants attended the Summer School. The external evaluator, Prof. Roger Dale, also attended and provided advice and guidance regarding the summer school programme and the development of future editions. Feedback from participants was also collected.
